MAURICIO POCHETTINO REFLECTS ON CHELSEA'S EVENTFUL WIN OVER BRIGHTON

A Rollercoaster Game

Mauricio Pochettino, the coach of Chelsea, admitted that his team felt exhausted after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Brighton in the Premier League. The match had its fair share of ups and downs, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats.

A Strong Start

Chelsea started the game at Stamford Bridge with a bang, quickly taking a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Enzo Fernandez and Levi Colwill. The home team seemed to be in control and playing exceptionally well.

Brighton's Comeback

However, Brighton fought back and managed to score a goal through Facundo Buonanotte. The momentum shifted, and things became more challenging for Chelsea when Conor Gallagher received a red card just before halftime.

10-Man Chelsea Holds On

Despite being down to ten players, Chelsea held their ground in the second half. Fernandez scored from a penalty kick, extending their lead. Brighton's Joao Pedro scored a late consolation goal, but it wasn't enough to change the outcome of the game.

Pochettino's Thoughts

Pochettino described the game as "crazy" and emphasized that the Premier League is incredibly competitive. He acknowledged that his team started well and played impressively when they had a full squad. However, the second half became more complicated with one less player on the field.

Tired but Happy

Pochettino recognized that the team was tired, but overall, they were happy with the result. He mentioned that after a previous match against Newcastle, where they didn't perform as well, it was important to show a different side of their game.

Questions about the Referees and VAR

Pochettino expressed confusion about some of the referee's decisions and the use of VAR during the game. He questioned why Conor Gallagher received a red card and mentioned that he would need to review the incident again. Pochettino also found it strange that the referees checked VAR for a handball by Colwill after awarding a penalty. He emphasized that he wasn't complaining or criticizing but found the use of VAR confusing at times.

A Win to Celebrate

Despite the confusion surrounding some decisions, Pochettino concluded by saying that the team should be happy after securing a victory. Winning is always a cause for celebration, and it was a hard-fought win for Chelsea.
