Anthony Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, is confident that Joshua will face Deontay Wilder in his first bout of 2024. However, there's a catch - both fighters need to win their upcoming fights on December 23.

Initially, Hearn had suggested that Joshua could pursue a vacant IBF title shot against Filip Hrgovic of Croatia. The IBF belt is currently held by unified champion Oleksandr Usyk, who will defend his title against Tyson Fury in February 2024.

Hearn believes that if a new undisputed champion is crowned in the Fury vs Usyk fight, the belts are likely to be separated again due to the mandatory demands of the sanctioning bodies. This could create an opportunity for Joshua to face Hrgovic for the IBF title and potentially become a three-time heavyweight champion.

However, Hearn now feels that the momentum is leaning towards a Joshua vs Wilder matchup. He believes that after the Fury vs Usyk fight, the belts will likely fragment, especially the IBF. If Joshua defeats Wallin on December 23, it is highly probable that a contract for Joshua vs Wilder will be signed.

Hearn emphasizes that there will be no turning back at that point. The focus will be on making the Joshua vs Wilder fight happen, which he considers to be the biggest fight in boxing. The only way this fight can take place is if both fighters win on the same card on December 23.
