TAIWO AWONIYI REFLECTS ON LEAVING LIVERPOOL

Leaving Liverpool For Regular Football
Taiwo Awoniyi, a Nigerian striker, recently opened up about his decision to leave the famous Premier League team, Liverpool. Despite being with Liverpool for six years, Awoniyi never got the chance to play in a competitive match for the Reds. In 2021, he was sold to Union Berlin, a Bundesliga club, after going on several loan spells.

Awoniyi explained that his desire to play regular football was the main reason behind his departure from Anfield. When he looked at the team, he saw players like Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino, who were all top-notch strikers. He knew that his chances of getting playing time were very slim. So, he made the tough decision to leave Liverpool and find a place where he could play every week.

Enjoying Life At Nottingham Forest
After his time at Union Berlin, Awoniyi was bought by Nottingham Forest in 2022. He had an impressive record of scoring 20 goals across all competitions for Union Berlin, which caught the attention of Forest. Awoniyi expressed his satisfaction with life at Forest, particularly under the guidance of their manager, Steve Cooper.

According to Awoniyi, Cooper has a great approach to coaching. He knows how to communicate with players and gives them the confidence they need. Awoniyi mentioned that despite facing a lot of pressure last season, Cooper always believed in the team's ability to stay up. This kind of support and belief from a manager is what every player desires. Cooper motivates his players and makes them believe that they can reach the peak of their careers if they work hard and give it their all.

Awoniyi's decision to leave Liverpool was driven by his desire for regular playing time. He recognized the competition he faced at Liverpool and knew he needed to find a team where he could showcase his skills every week. Now, at Nottingham Forest, he is enjoying the coaching style of Steve Cooper and the belief he instills in his players. Awoniyi is determined to work hard and reach the peak of his career with Forest.
